Even though it is cold outside right now it can still be fun to plan for changes you would like to make outside for next year. One way you can make a change is to use crushed natural limestone. This type of stone is made of sedimentary stone with a variety of calcium deposits to make it look unique. To help you get started, below are two ways you can use this type of limestone for your exterior.

Use as Ground Cover

Crushed limestone can be used as ground cover to improve the appearance of different landscaped areas. For example, you may want to put ground cover over a bare area to liven it up.

Measure the area where you want to use the limestone ground cover. Purchase landscaping fabric or some type of plastic that will hold up to the elements. Measure and cut the fabric and lay it down in the area. This fabric will prevent weeds from growing up and into the limestone. Put landscaping rocks over the perimeter of the fabric to hold it down. You could also stake the fabric down for more security. Once you lay the natural limestone you will not see the steaks. There are stakes that are made of a durable plastic, metal, or wood.

When the area is ready pour a few inches of the crushed limestone onto the area you prepared. Spray the limestone with a garden hose to help it settle. You only need to wet it but do not have to drench it

Use for a Driveway

If it is time to install a new driveway, crushed limestone would be a good choice for you. There are many benefits of choosing limestone over other materials, such as gravel or asphalt.

Crushed limestone is natural and attractive, and will add to the aesthetics of your home. It is also much less expensive than other options and you will not have to worry about repairing cracks or other damage as you get on concrete, asphalt, etc.  Water passes through the limestone, so it is not affected by the elements. It is heavy enough that you do not have to worry about it blowing away.

You can find natural stone in a variety of colors, so you can choose stones that go well with your landscaping or home. Some of these colors include tans, browns, greens, grays, and more.

Talk with a landscaping contractor about using crushed natural limestone for your exterior. They can help you with the above choices, as well as tell you of many other ways you can use this natural stone.
